 Welcome

It is with great pleasure that I welcome to Stuart Cowin and Toby Hood to the Men’s A-grade Team. Both Stuart & Toby have represented Australia in Speed-skating and have been riding Elite for a long time including the National Road Series. They are well known and respected around Queensland Cycling. Their experience and leadership will help guide the youngsters and build the plan for 2010. The boys will introduce themselves on the blog as their first team task!

I would also like to take this opportunity to formally introduce Gilbert Gutowski who has moved over to us from QSM. Gilbert is an excellent all-rounder and has had extensive experience including a stint in a French team. Gilbert’s first race with the team will be this Saturday at Murrarie when we should have the entire A-grade team (Sean O’Brien, David Melville, Gilbert Gutowski, Stuart Cowin, Toby Hood) as well as Dave McAdam, Aiden Trevan and Shane Bedford working together for a podium position.

Nicci Heath has her first race back in 12 months in womens A-grade with Nikolina Orlic and we should have Todd in B1 as well as a big C-grade contingent.

I would also like to welcome our official Team Photographers Travis Hitz (Data#3) and Tom McPhail (Fit 2 Excel). If you do have any D3CSRT photos, please send them to me and I will put them up on Picasa.

Saturday Murarrie – Depart Old-Peleton (near Cnr Park Rd/Railway Tce) at 6am for Womens & Mens A and at 6:30am for Mens B & C. There is a huge turnout for D3CSRT for Saturday. Let us know if you are coming and NOT on this list.

 Kit Handout Highlights

Thanks for all of those who turned up on Monday to the kit hand out. For those who weren’t some key points:

 1.       The following items were handed out (if you need a copy…let me know)

a.       Welcome Letter

b.      Participation Agreement (1 to keep and the other to sign)

c.       Code of Conduct

d.      Team List & Mobile Numbers

e.      Jerseys & Knicks (per order)

2.       Team Training Rides | Approaching the peak season of the Qld Cat 2 Roads, these rides are typically on Tue/Wed/Thu and Sun. You are expected to be at-least at team training once per fortnight.

3.       Team Kit | Kit is to be worn at all times on Team rides and races. If you can avoid wearing conflicting vests and jackets, that would be good, the remainder of the kit still 2-3 weeks away. Try an undervest.

4.       Team Captains | Well done to Nick George and Jason Portas who are the B & C-grade Team captains respectively. The team captain’s role is to initiate club race attendance, collect fine-bucket fines (incorrect dress etc), be a central point for ideas and suggestions.

5.       Social Coordinator | Todd Linford is Social Co-ordinator. Our goal is to INCLUDE the partners and kids as much as possible. Our first social event will be the Official Team Launch on Wednesday 29th July at the Morrison Hotel – Wooloongabba.

Anyway, enough typing…back to real job!  See you ALL on the weekend!!!!!
