Very hot and windy day down the coast. Every race I saw was won by breaks as the pelotons always struggled to stay together with the brutal crosswinds.
Masters B: Toddy was in good form and did lots of work. He contested the sprint for 3rd (as a 2man breakaway was up the road), and just got rolled in the final few bike lengths.
Masters A: Aiden and I hammered it out. I was in a early 5man break that split when one of the early primes were called, two of us didnt contest fell back to the main bunch after 2 laps or so. The first 3 kept the pace up and stayed away so it was a non event racing for minor places. Aiden and I spent lots of energy working hard but the dwindling peloton down to 50% of starting size gave up the fight. Good day out.. frustrating to miss the winning break.
Elite A: Gilbert was our only rider but did us all proud! His solo break lasting 10mins including the first prime was very impressive. He was caught by one rider on the prime lap but he owned him in the sprint. The group stayed together for the 2nd prime, the 3rd prime Gillbert got up again from a small 4 man break and took the cash. Once the peloton re gathered, Cantwell and 3 others road up the road and held 30 sec lead for the remainder of the race. 2 guys put in a great effort to bridge the gap over 4 laps so 6 riders went into the final laps together. Cantwell was too fast and strong in the end, sprinting with 200m's to go for an easy win.
D3 put in a great show again.

All I can say is that wind was nasty! My expectations before the race were that break aways would be difficult considering the track is so open an flat. The wind definately played a massive part and there was not one race that I saw that was not won by a breakaway bunch.
Tough Day....
Top work lads. Good to hear about the action. I was sweating in the heat just watching TV so must have been harsh on the bike. Top effort.
