Firstly welcome to my first post on the blog and certainly some great work to reminisce on today!! Well it was a great turn-up by the ever-reliable Data#3 machine and following last week's performances the level of confidence and morale was certainly sparkling! Obviously the boys were keen to translate this into something special on the road today and the decision to employ some super-aggressive tactics was quickly discussed and agreed upon. Subsequently upon exiting the neutral zone all eight Data#3 members smacked it into the big ring and let fly! Given the relative sedentary pace experienced at most Muzz starts I'm sure this rush of blood certainly had the unexpected thinking why they didn't entertain the temptation of sleeping in this morning! Following 3-4 laps of threshold efforts unfortunately the plan to splinter the field failed to eventuate. However subsequent attakcs were made to maintain the momentum and adrenalin which certainly made for an entertaining race! Portas had a good crack at the Preme however was just pipped into second place! Backing up his super-performance last week 'the machine' made a characteristic breakaway attempt again displaying his amazingly high levels of sustained power! However the race got confusing when a break from C-grade caught and passed the B-team which certainly made for some messy racing. All was eventually sorted out and with three laps to go it was clear that the race would once again come down to a bunch kick! With somewhere between 40-50 riders turned up today there was only place to be at this point in the race and the Data#3 boys knew exactly where that was! Hogs Breathe were impressively organised and occupied the top three positions with two to go. Both Chew and myself quickly worked out who their sprinter was (3rd wheel) and made sure we glued ourselves to him going into the final laps. Nick George also somehow squeezed himself between the pink bits and all was set for a final lap showdown!! Sensing their team-mates were about to be swamped by the seemingly slowing pace up front, Portas and Aiden launched the lead-out train with half a lap remaining! This strung the bunch out once again although Portas' huge turn of speed put most in the red before the sprint even started! Following attacks down the back-straight I managed about 4-5th position around the final corner and not feeling too confident with the amount of ground to make up. However I dropped it in the 12 and fortunately being a tough head-wind sprint the leaders were fading fast and after a huge throw to the line I just pipped Hogs Breathe for the win! Chew did a similar tactic and just grabbed 3rd place, which shows you should never give up in a tough uphill or head-wind sprint!! Anyway another great result for the D-machine and form and morale could not be better so it's certainly an awesome place to be at the moment. Celebrations were followed up with coffee and breaky by the water and for the more sadistic the day ended with laps around Coot-tha! Obviously with the Battle solely in mind....
Anyway sensational day out once again however with the Battle on the horizon there are still much bigger fish to fry.
