Stage 5

Stage 5
Flat stage but don't be fooled flat does not mean easy!
What makes the crits and road races so brutal is the race director loves his sprint points and the points are worth time for the GC guys, the race never let's up

The first 30k were pretty easy until we hit some single lane country roads with brutal cross winds. Pretty quickly everyone was on the limit in the gutter and the weaker riders fell behind causing gaps. unfortunately I looked up at one stage and 10wheels in front there was a massive gap to the leading 50 riders, we made a left turn onto a two lane road and some riders from fly v that got caught out took control of our group and pulled us out of the gutter and 20 of us rolled in a very fast echelon for 10 k's or so and closed the 30 secs to re-join the front bunch.
From then on I stayed in the front half of the peloton and survived all the other gutter sessions without a hitch!

We kept turning right and the headwind/ cross winds became tail winds for the final 20k's and I'm not sure I shifted out of the 53-11 one time!!!

Another bunch finish and ST for me today!!
