Nundah Criterium 110205

After sweet success on Wednesday night, Data#3 were back for more. As usual the pace was on from the whistle with Mainline attacking and Data#3 chasing and marking all potential breaks. Nikolia, Matt, Bruce and David all getting in the action. With the peloton back together and the race nearing the preme sprint, Richard was warming up his turbos as Matt and I were preparing a lead out. Into the bell lap and Matt threads the needle around the outside with the plan for Richard to sprint from the front. Into the last bend, someone tries to push Hulk of the wheel only to get the cold shoulder!! Matt lets rip down the inside taking advantage of the crosswind, Richard flicks the switch and the gap opens!! By the time he looks up no one is left. Nice team work.

Back to the race and with everyone marking the moves eventually a 6 man break slips away with myself and Stu. With about 12 min to go we start slogging away swapping turns while the rest of the team sat on the front keeping things tempo giving us an advantage. With 5 min to go I am feeling close to popping and am missing turns, also thinking one of us should try prepare for the sprint. Into the last straight and not sure what happened!! We started to sprint but were beaten for fitness as both Stu and I were suffering and narrowly missed out on a podium spot.

As they say you have to be in it to win it, unfortunately not this time but top 5 still a good result.

Bring on the sprint training!

Great effort by all.
