Hi All,
Another day of racing is done and not an easy day at that. David Melville and I turned up for the A Grade race starting at 7:30am. Aiden and Jase were also there but Aiden pulled the pin before the start to save doing any damage to his knee due to the lack of warm up and early call to the start line.
I wasn't prepared for the course that i was about to ride. I dont think that there was a section of flat road on the whole course (see course profile below). We had to do 7 laps of about 11km each with the KOM climb just before the finish each lap which was pretty hard on lap one and painful by lap 7.

There was break or two which went off the front pretty early and that was the race done for the rest of us. No one seemed to keen to chase it down and we continued to ride around until the end of the race. There were a few more guys who went off the front with a few laps to go and then a few more at the end of the second last lap. I jumped across to the two guys and we caught the previous break and rode through to the end together and got maybe a couple of minutes on the rest of the group. For me it was a hard course but probably good experience.
Stage 2 was the timetrial. 12km of fun. The legs were feeling pretty dead and sore from the multiple hills from the morning and i didnt know what i had left. The tailwind from last year wasn't there and i even think that there was a headwind in some sections. We were 1 minute apart and with the long straight roads you could see your man in front to try and chase down, but i didnt have any luck, but at the same time i didnt get caught either (maybe because there was 2 minute gap to Chris Pryor behind me). I finished in about 16:42 but havent seen official times or placings yet.
Tomorrow is another day and hopefully with some rest for the legs and a good night sleep we can have another crack.
