Andrew & Tessa
Handlers:
Ineke & Emily
After 70km, the Peloton was relatively together and cranking along at around 43ave. There were many flats on the rough and dead back roads. Tessa and I were talking about our luck when Chewy dropped back with a flat. Whilst we pulled him back on, Jason and Dave came back to help him however Chewy held on whist Dave and Jason unhitched. We got Chewy back on however there was an accident and the resulting gutter riding found Matt Chew’s seat falling off at 30km to go. To Matt’s credit, he came in 5 or so minutes back, riding out of the saddle!!!!
It was then Stu Mulhern’s time to have a flat. A quick change had us back on in 5 minutes and I was surprised the Stuarts’s face looked like he was at home watching the tele even though he was riding at 75kph! Then Damon became unhitched but stayed close. The peleton pulled together just before the end and the big-guns Praties took out the win they deserved being on the front all-day. Stu and Stu were in the bunch followed by Damon, Chewy, Jason and David. I was proud of the boys, 4 of them riding in their first NRS event.
Tomorrow is hilly and 110km. We start and finish at Highfields with 4 KoMs and 3 IntSs
