The Masters C contingent of "me" lined up for the race on Sunday, supposedly we had 60 in the field but it was more like 40 (old blokes apparently don't like getting their feet wet). It may not have been raining at the start but the course was still fairly slippery in places and I figured the safest place was to stay close to the front. This theory proved true as after a couple of laps there was carnage behind me.
It was a standard Masters C race with only a handful of us keen to venture out to the front and attempts to break away were few and far between. I did try and recruit a couple of others before the race to get a group away (as per crestmead) but to no avail.
I decided to stick behind a QSM rider on the last lap as he'd had some form coming into the race (winning Oakey and placing at Crestmead) and he was looking fairly strong. Jumped on his wheel on the back straight on the last lap, things were looking good, next minute he's slipping all over the place and ended up in a ditch. So much for that plan. Managed to get back on track, left the run a little late and picked up 5th.... no prize for 5th!!!!!
